I accept a hankering to play some DS and 3DS games I missed, thanks to me selling my 3DS back in 2022. I had the 3DS XL. I know the 2DS is probably the best pick since I don't care about 3D anymore, but is the panel still worth picking up? I have a switch, but there are several games I desire to play but on 3DS (Link Between Worlds, Warioware Collection, Majora'southward Mask 3D to proper name a few). Is information technology still worth a pickup in 2022? Information technology's non an insanely expensive console to boot.

Yep. Especially if it'southward just for those games you lot listed.

If you ever wanted an RPG, the 3DS has ane of the strongest line ups for those alone.

I notwithstanding play my 3DS. I picked up WarioWare Gilded recently and I've been enjoying that.

The New 2DS Twoscore is great as long as y'all're okay with slightly worse speakers. The 3DS library still has a lot to offer.

The only problem with the 2DS line is that they all have the awful TN screen. Just if you lot don't intendance near that and then yes get for it.

certain just i'd go with 3D if you want the whole shebang. like Link Between Worlds and 3D Mario Land for example, stereoscopics kind of fabricated those games. non a deal breaker simply you'll exist missing out

i don't imagine a 2DS is significantly cheaper at this bespeak only YMMV on personal upkeep

3DS catalogue is insane. If there's DS games y'all want to play on acme of that, you take one of the best catalogues you could always ask for in a console. No brainier to get i imo.

Unless prices have dramatically gone upwardly or something (I haven't checked in forever) you really should just go a New 3DS XL, fifty-fifty if you're non actually going to use the 3D. The 2DS XL feels super cheap in comparing.

If you lot want to play the games on it then definitely. I got a N2DSXL to replace my broken N3DSXL. It does have a cheaper build only it'southward nicer in some aspects. It's lighter and the SD card is much easier to access. It also has a comprehend to preclude the cartridge from popping out.

You need to accept a New 2DS/3DS. Information technology's got ane of the best game libraries out of any organization e'er, and near of those games are never coming out elsewhere.

Go for it.

The only trouble with the 2DS line is that they all have the awful TN screen. But if you don't care about that then yeah go for information technology.
doesn't the pokemon themed 2DS XL accept a ips screen or is it the 3DS XL pokemon i i'm thinking of?

Are y'all in the Us or can import from there? Nintendo sells refurbished ones which are indistinguishable from new consoles.

Definitely worth it only I'd complete recommend the 3DS XL over a 2DSXL even if you don't care nigh the 3D. The 3DS XL looks and feels so much better, and the sound quality on the 2DS speakers actually sucks.

Bought 2DS XL two months ago, I don't regret it at all.

If you can play Kid Icarus on information technology then get the 2DS. If you cannot then get the 3DS.

Worth information technology for that game!

The DS library probably works on both.

Yeah. It has hundreds of good to dandy games beyond DS and 3DS. Play the ones y'all know you'll like and then try random new ones that you don't know much Nearly. I recommend the SMT series, Attack of the Friday Monsters, several Ace Attorney games, Pushmo, and Rhythm Thief

Just got one refurbished from Nintendo final calendar month, and really enjoyed it. I finally beat SMT4 and bought a bunch of bully JRPG, as well. Really solid purchase.

Are you in the US or tin can import from at that place? Nintendo sells refurbished ones which are duplicate from new consoles.
Physical trade is non available from the US Nintendo shop atm. But the 2DS 40 and 2DS expect to be available every bit refurbished in one case their operations resume.

doesn't the pokemon themed 2DS Forty take a ips screen or is it the 3DS 40 pokemon one i'yard thinking of?
The Pokemon-themed standard-sized New 3DS, I think.

This thread may be of some apply, as I merely picked up a N2DS XL myself only a month or two ago:
My personal opinion well-nigh the arrangement itself in the same thread, hither. Despite its shortcomings, I enjoy playing on it far more than the 3DS 40.

The 3ds library is Caprine animal tier. Definitely become for it, specially if you can observe 1 for cheap. I'm currently waiting for a cost drop on the 2ds xl myself since my OG 3ds twoscore is pretty banged up.
  • #26
I would recommend ownership the refurb ones directly from Nintendo. Relatively affordable and the condition is miiiiiiint. And it's guaranteed to work given that its5 coming direct from Nintendo.

I dearest my New 2DS XL (and 2DS OG). Happy to come across and so many people sharing the 2022 honey.

Equally someone else noted, you tin can option upwardly refurbished units from the Nintendo store for a very reasonable rate. Been tempted to get another OG for $50US.

Information technology'due south still got a killer library (adding the DS it's possibly the Goat) and a lot of it's best stuff should be very cheap at this point second paw. As long as you lot don't mind the depression res and the form factor it'southward fantastic

Fifty-fifty when DS games get ported to non-DS systems, the experience is so dissimilar that the original is still worthwhile. A DS/2DS/3DS volition likely always be worthwhile for some games.

The 2DS Xl is yet a slap-up organisation and a fantastic value. It comes with a bully Mario Kart game, and a huge amount of the Nintendo 3DS library is now available every bit Nintendo Selects titles for 20 bucks a popular.

I still have these NIB, never opened lol. The other plain 1 we have is used when my granddaughter is over.

Alert, the 2dsxl "nubble", which acts equally the c-stick, is consummate dogshit. Controlling the camera while playing the 3ds monster hunter games became a painful experience for me. Thankfully, the majority of 3ds games does not require information technology as badly as something like monster hunter does.

I believe people mods that with a psp nub. I think.

Try to find a non Twoscore new 3DS. The depression res screen on the 40 makes it very very difficult to go back to a 3DS imo.

Homo information technology is hard to find any 3DS or 2DS. Seems like they're sold out everywhere.

Man it is difficult to discover any 3DS or 2DS. Seems like they're sold out everywhere.

Nintendo was already phasing the older models out and I guess the crisis has made things fifty-fifty worse with people nabbing systems left and correct.

Now is admittedly the time to purchase a three/2DS organization if you detect one and stock up on games.

I love mine.

I bought a refurbished 1 from Nintendo last year and I'chiliad super happy with it. Certain, the build quality isn't every bit good as the New 3DS XL, but I beloved the fact that it'due south lighter (makes it easier to play Picross 3D laying down) and the fact that I don't take to bust out a screwdriver to the get the microSD carte du jour.

I was going to give information technology to my son since he broke his new 3DS, only I concluded up giving my my New 3DS XL and kept the 2DS Forty for myself.

I bought a New 2DS XL at the end of last year and I recall the build quality is quite poor compared to the New 3DS. I similar the design, size, I simply call up information technology feels a bit flimsy. Sometimes I still get dorsum to my (Old) 3DS XL because of this.
  • #42
The library is great, merely I personally find information technology kinda hard nowadays to play on the 2DS 40'due south screen due to the low res. I guess if I were y'all I'd try to become a New 3DS standard model instead.
If you lot want the bigger display, though, then I think the 2DS XL is a practiced idea for a rather cheap entry bespeak.
The New 3DS Twoscore is superior in every style other than weight, but as well a lot more expensive here in the EU and harder to get a agree of nowadays.

I have a OG 3DS Forty and I'grand trying to decide if information technology is worth information technology to get a 2DS Xl or a NEW 3DS Forty. I idea I recall hearing that the screen on the 2DS isn't as stretched as the 3DS XL.

I accept a OG 3DS Twoscore and I'm trying to decide if it is worth it to become a 2DS XL or a NEW 3DS XL. I idea I remember hearing that the screen on the 2DS isn't as stretched as the 3DS XL.
It's worth it for the upgraded Os performance.

Get a N2DS XL, but keep your OG Xl, don't practice a organisation transfer or anything. Just try out the N2DS 40 for some time and see how you like it kickoff. For me it's a really corking organisation, just it's also really dissimilar to the 3DS XLs, and so it depends on what you similar and what you're used to.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the 2DS XL, I recollect the quality of the organisation itself is very poor. I'd endeavour property out for a New 3DS XL.

I had half a heed to buy 2DS (equally a collector's thing) on the cheap on clearance before they got discontinued, but seems like I missed the gunkhole, as I can't discover any and the ones I do discover are marked upwardly.

Yes I noticed this a while ago. If you observe an OG 2DS for cheap, you better take hold of that ASAP.
